Finally, the day had come! After months of committed training and preparation, the moment we had been eagerly waiting for had arrived. We were about to board the plane from Argentina to New Zealand for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and let me tell you, the excitement was off the charts.
It was finally real, we were going to a World Cup! As we stepped onto the plane, you could practically feel the buzz of excitement all around. It was as if we were a bunch of kids on Christmas Eve, we were so antsy to get there.

Touching down in New Zealand was an absolute thrill. The moment we stepped off the plane, we were greeted by a whirlwind of World Cup fever. The airport was plastered with World Cup advertisements and we were greeted by FIFA staff with open arms.

But the real magic began at our first training session. Tons of little kids came to watch and stayed to get pictures and autographs after – they were like our own little fan base down under. The atmosphere here is absolutely electric. You can feel the passion for soccer in the air, like an invisible force pulling us all together. We’ve been so taken care of by the people. Every little detail is covered.

The energy and excitement building up to the World Cup is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I mean, I’ve played in some big and exciting games before, but the World Cup is the biggest stage and brings an entirely new level of excitement.
Of course, we want to do the best we can. All the hard work, the hours of preparation—this is what it’s all been for. The anticipation is thrilling and a bit nerve-wracking, but we’re laser-focused. We just want to leave a mark on the world stage, do our country proud, and help shape the future of women’s soccer in Argentina.
